Shred Or Dead - Matt Sewell

This just in from my brother Matt Sewell

For your listening pleasure

The soundtrack to the Druids last stand. The proggier end of metal or the metaly end of prog, but don't let that put you off.

All track have been selected for there dopeness, heavyness and the shear amount of shredding, but don't let that put you off.

"Would you dare to meet the gaze of the Basilisk Or face the flames as the Phoenix burns?"

Download Shred or Dead HERE

Unfortunately the full tracklist got lost inside a volcano but I can reveal that Amon Düül II, Flower Travellin Band, The Sword, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath & Scorpion all make an appearance....Also how heavy is the artwork?

ELECTRONIC MEMORIES & HUMAN WORDS

Richie Pengelley, a man unafraid to write in capitals throws down after weeks of me hassling him to do the mix and then weeks of him hassling me to get it on the blog its finally, finally here..."ELECTRONIC MEMORIES & HUMAN WORDS" behold the genius that is La Penge...

Download the mixtape by clicking on these words

"I couldn't see properly when he asked me, yet alone hear, the cheap plastic
disco light was pointing directly into my retinas and the over-amped
speakers were stretching the hyman out of the bass cones, You What? i spat
back at him as I was bustled by some dire freak show who was trying to
squeeze by. Would you be up for doing a mix tape for my blog? The freak
show, who must have hit every branch when she fell out of the ugly tree, was
now grinding past Leo and as the light hit her all you could see was this
bulldog chewing a wasp. Rank. I managed to digest the information while my
burnt retinas brought the after party into focus, replying, Shitbox really?
I don't think I have enough, you know, spacey peyote smoking out there,
stuff to fill a mix tape, my stuff is a little more on the electronic
wackness tip. We edge away from freak show who has now started to drench
some unsuspecting victim in halitosis odoured spittle, she was in her prime
fifty years ago maybe but tonight she looked like a reject from fragil rock.
no worries it's cool, anything goes Leo says, its wide open, ok I reply, I'd
love to. It's been a while. As I start to contemplate this new endeavor, the
freak show begins to head back towards us, her jaw grinding and carving out
a route for her through the crowd, bodies flying left and right, her eyes
dead and lifeless look like satans arseholes. Leo turns and we say in
unison, We should go."

LA PENGE is the brainchild of Ricardo Suavez and Kinky Rich, this is his 1st
mix tape since 1993 and as you can see he has not really bought many records since then. This mix tape has a little bit of everything on it, some old records which made his head turn in early £3.99 warehouse parties while drinking TOP DECK, some new stuff which is interesting and energetic plus some timeless classics which will live longer now one can USB ones vinyl. Adding to this multifarious collection are a few film quotes and a youthful vigour which was brought back to life for the 70 minutes or so.

Make Love in The Stars - Jadell & his computer friend

New mix tape up for grabs from Prolific B-Boy, DJ, Musician & Comedian Jadell. I've been trying to get him to do this for ages and he's finally come up with the goods, it was well worth the wait, download it here.

Man, I love space. When I think about how absolutely big space is; and I personally have visited space quite a few times during my ingestion of psychotropic substances, so I know - it reminds me of just how much of a fragment of other inconceivable amounts of fragments we are made out of. Yet - all from the same one in the first place; or so it was pointed out to me when I visited space the last time, during my time travel meditation with The Elder Ones.

The above text was pretty much what I said, word for word, when Leo asked me if I fancied doing a mix for this blog. He never spoke to me again afterwards, apart from when I received a letter in the post addressed to 'Space Cadet Jadell' from his solicitor, asking me if I'd 'done the shit yet'. I sent him a text message that read 'You never paid for the drinks you ran off and left me with', and soon everything was all sorted out. I hope you like it, some of the tunes are pretty darned rare if I say so myself.

All of them are from the 60's and 70's, and they're all heavy on the funk drums. I'm going to do an 80's one soon for here...it won't be the usual electro you've heard hundreds of times either. I'll keep Leo posted. For now, go and freak out in space and make love in the stars. - Jadell

Misty Mountain Mix By C-Boogie

C-Boogie AKA Charlie Inman, Raconteur, DJ, Producer, Director, Musician and all round good guy has this to say about the latest mix tape which you can get by clicking here...

So Leo asked me to do him a mix for his new blog, and I got all excited and dug out loads of wicked old tunes, which I knew he’d be really into. All sorts of weirdy-beardy psychadelic hippie funk rock nonsense. Right up his street. Cut it together, was double pleased with myself. Nice mixes, some really obscure shit I hadn’t listened to for ages, and then I lost my laptop in Cuba along with the mix and most of the tunes I’d used. Shitbags. Back to the drawing board.

This is my second attempt. I’m gutted I lost some of the really good ones, but I got to include some recent discoveries like the rocktastic Son of Spirit track for the opening, and Miguel Atwood-Ferguson & Carlos Nino’s beautiful orchestral cover of Slum Village’s “Fall in Love”.

For best results, listen to this mix out in the garden, on a sunny day, naked, really high on mushrooms.

Shamonté

Big Love

Charlie
